The Salutation Ted Williams pictured above, was produced into the 1960's which is why the card is so prevalent. There have been pics, I believe on this board, showing an uncut sheet of later exhibits picturing the Williams and one or two other salutation Exhibits. Be careful just going by what the big book says.

That is correct. I posted that uncut sheet. It has a Williams salutation and a Detroit Colavito on it. Cleveland traded Colavito for Harvey Kueen in 1960.

A poster on another forum said PSA was no longer grading Exhibit cards, not sure where they got that from though.

They were probably referring to football. They don't (at least the last I heard) grade the 1948-52 football exhibits.

Sorry to be so late to the party! Scott Mt. Joy is correct that the Feller Salutation card with PC back he posted is from 1955 even though it has MADE IN U.S.A. designation in the bottom right corner. ESCO issued this "bastardized" set in 1955 with the Postcard backs using many different previously issued cards from different "sets". Beside the Feller the ever present Pafko Salutation is included in the set as well. There are cards from the "type script" set that has PRINTED IN U.S.A., others with Made in U.S.A, MADE IN U.S.A., and "AN EXHIBIT CARD" set. Though confusing, this is how the set was issued. If anyone has any of the postcard backs in the Exhibit baseball or football sets please PM me. I am doing research and would like to ask some questions. I have some dupes available for trade for others I am looking for or will buy those I need. Best, Fred |
