Odd, all I get on the board is five small ads, four of them static and the largest banner rotating graphics but for a single advertiser.
The main Oldcardboard page only has one ad. I'd suggest scanning for some other adware you got somewhere else. Now if you'd said this about answers.com or one of the other clickbait "article" places I'd agree entirely. Those often serve up a gigabyte plus of junk quickly enough that the browser stops before I can finish the article. - Yeah, not sure why I even bother looking at them anymore. Steve B
