The title, "The Bambino and Me" reminds me of Dan Gutman's children's books based on baseball cards that I read as a kid.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_Card_Adventures If you haven't seen these, I highly recommend reading them. They are pretty timeless, as kids can enjoy them from a children's-book aspect, and adults can enjoy them if they like baseball cards.
