Default Hockey Fans - can you identify this old game jersey logo? Seattle? Calgary?

Found today in Vancouver. Thought it might be an old Calgary Stampeders gamer from the WHL or perhaps a Senior League Stampeders jersey? But then, why have the horse and the "S"? Anyone recognize it? No hits on a search of the name "MADROWSKI" either unfortunately. Durene with repairs and wear.

Thanks!

Sorry, I can't help....but doesn't the MADROWSKI look like a later addition?

Madrowski is def. a later addition. Quick search of anything Calgary Stampeder, or even Stallions turned up nothing.

Looks like 80s era to me for the jersey, maybe 70s. Hard to tell without seeing any tagging - is there any?

Could def be a later addition, yes....but not recent I would say. The letters have individual threads akin to embroidery, just like the logo and are not tackle twill.

No tagging unfortunately. The durene looks and feels like 1970's....but could be later or earlier.

Nothing Stampeder related, either the old Calgary Stampeders hockey team, or anything I recall when the current football team does charitable hockey games.

Certainly nothing Calgary Flames related, as they arrived here from Atlanta in 1980.

Swift Current Broncos is a great guess. Colors are off from now, but a great possibility. Not the biggest Junior hockey fan, so I wouldn't be much help there.

Good guess and I also thought of that too, but can't find a logo or picture that doesn't have a bucking horse and as Was mentioned the colours are off.

Could be an old high school/ college type sweater also and maybe that's the reason it is so hard to track down?

I was only able to find this, but I doubt it leads you anywhere?

Thanks! Saw that in my search too, but the lad is too young to have worn this unless the team/school etc was extremely cash strapped and had to keep recycling old jerseys.

Other than the chest patch, the rest looks like it was added later. The name may be irrelevant to the front. Nice jersey, but possibly high school or something from the US.

As funny/odd as that may sound, it could be exactly that?

My son has played House League, Rep, 4 on 4, Select and now High school hockey, and other than Rep, 4 on 4 and H/S, where he has purchased his own sweaters, house league and Select sweaters are re-used year after year until they are worn out and need to be replaced.

He is in Minor Midget this year and his H/L sweaters are in rough shape and need to be replaced, in my opinion, but like most leagues, money is tough to come by so they may go another year or two yet?

By the way, they are sweaters, not jerseys.

Could it be from a Canadian college or University? Another possibility is a Junior B team.

Well, it only shows to go, that even those who get these jobs/positions at some point in their careers, doesn't necessarily mean it was based on what they knew/know but rather based on some other means.
http://www.begtodiffer.com/2011/10/1...s-your-answer/

From Don Cherry.

Don Cherry was quoted in the Mental Floss article as saying:

“[Hockey] sweaters are now called jerseys, if you can believe it, and we’ve sort of accepted that. But in Canada, it was always called a sweater… Americans used jerseys when they were playing football; then, when they finally got around to playing hockey, they used the same name. Nowadays, most kids call sweaters jerseys. Another little part of our hockey heritage is gone.”

More info on the evolution of the hockey sweater: http://www.nhluniforms.com/History.html

The NHL sweaters / jerseys from the '30s and '40s I've seen and had a chance to touch really were thin sweaters. It's always a thrill to see them in person.

Very true! Its key to note for vintage hockey garments... If it's constructed of wool, its a sweater.... If its a more modern material like durene... It's a jersey.
