A Cobb green portrait as a T3 might be cool, but it would break the stylistic choice as seen in the set, which is that all players are shown in action poses.

Any T206 Joe Jackson would be neat, but it would probably mean one more card that most collectors would not have in their incomplete 'complete' sets. I would lean toward an action shot on this one (probably it is fairly obvious that I am man of action).

My pick would be a 1937/38 Zeenut of Ted Williams with the San Diego Padres. The manufacturers decided not to include any Padres players in these years, a break from all their previous Zeenut years where all the teams in the PCL were represented. So thus no Teddy Ballgame.

Even though Robin Yount was included, there are proofs for a 1975 Hostess George Brett rookie card but it was never included in the final issue.

This!

I have a feeling he didn't give them permission as he pretty much knew that he was doing something wrong but just figured it wouldn't catch up with him as he was quoted as saying other college athletes were doing the same thing. I don't think he would have approved of someone marketing a card of him while still a college athlete that could be used as evidence against him.

In this article, it talks about why Joe Dimaggio wasn't included in the 52 Topps set, plus it shows others who also didn't make it.

Besides Dimaggio, Satchel Paige and Ted Williams are definitely 2 I wish were.

Nice link Dale. I like the 52 Ted fantasy card in the article. I have this one from the 2007 National. Luckily the ugly glue stain is on the slab and not the card.

Brian, great info. A Zeenut of a young Ted Williams would have been great!

It has always really bugged me that there is no 1934 Goudey Babe Ruth card. Its not like he didnt play that year, I believe he played in about 125 or so games. You got 2 Gehrigs but no Ruth, this is tragic. They even managed to get the Babe into the 1935 set, its terrible they skipped 1934.

Just in general I would have loved to see more Gehrig cards, there are so few compared to how many Ruth cards are out there.

Also I would have loved to see a 1952 Topps Joe DiMaggio. I wish Topps in fact would always produce a card the year after a major player retires so you get one final card of him with all his career stats on it. 1969 Mantle is an example of a card like this.

Mantle actually retired in 1969, so I'm guessing his card was already in the works by the time he'd announced it. But, I agree. I enjoy that final stats card when they've been issued.

1951-55 Bowman cards of Jackie Robinson. His omission is a crying shame thanks to, I guess, a contract with Topps.

As a life-long Padres and Ted Williams fan, that is my big pet-peeve with Zeenuts.
