P.Mori,P.Testi batterms sculpture
Picked it up in Fla. Today. Guy I got it from got it as a gift when he was 9. He is now 50. He got it from a lawyers wife after he passed away. Used to sit on his desk. Did my research and it's light to the feel and the pin is on the bottom from when it was formed. It is immaculate cond. For 1910. It is very dark in color from the photos. Thanks for the help in a previous post... if someone could turn the photos that would be great.

Here's one that sold for $536 in 2011 (This seller listed it as a "Frog" trap, but it is patented as a fish trap).

Trophy from 1944, the year prior to the formation of the National Girls Baseball League, a rival to the AAGPBL. The two leagues shared many players from year to year. Emery Parichy was the founder of the NGBL.

Nice item. I've got some photos, etc of women who played on the 'Parichy All-Stars' out of Chicago, back in the early 1940's.

1988 sox
my first true exposure to baseball was the 1986 redsox... Growing up, I lived about 45 miles from Pawtucket so in 87 my parents took me to a couple of games per month... I was a young autograph hound, and I used to chase players after the game to get their graphs (pro cards team sets in tow). 1988 rolled around, and I was excited when the new schedule showed 4 rookies from that 1987 team... Recently picked up this John Mariano rookie era

One of my first programs that I picked up more than 20 years ago was a 1908 Cornell/Penn football program. It's one of my favorites and got me really into collecting. I've been searching for a game ticket to accompany it for years. Last week I picked up a ticket stub to that game, and low and behold by luck this week I picked up a full ticket.

I love that horse-drawn trolley piece! And the catcher's mask is great too.
Both are very visually appealing. Joins so many other awesome pickups posted this month. |

Thanks all for the Kudos about the ticket.
I know some here collect baseball or sports themed postal covers. I am always on the lookout for a good cover, and they are usually relatively cheap. I picked this envelope off ebay last week. It's large, as the Spalding Catalog was mailed in it. For some reason I can't find an image of the 1913 Spalding Spring and Summer Catalog. If anyone has a copy or an image of the cover, I'd appreciate it if you could send me a pic. Thanks! spalding1913.jpg |

A couple
I have purchased a couple large items the past 2 months.
1) 1917 type 1 photo with period 1917 signature. I cannot think of a Ruth signed item that better fits in my collection. 2) mantle 1952 topps rookie. Always wanted one.. never pulled the trigger. I believe this is a very high end 3. At least it shows as such. The solid blue background pops(no white wear). I think I got a good deal on this one.

Bob Feller WWII Navy- Marines exhibition bassball ticket
I recently picked up a neat full ticket to a WWII Navy Relief exhibition game on July 25, 1942 between the Norfolk Navy Training Station and the Quantico Marine Corps from Billyscards on the net54 BST.
Bob Feller was the starting pitcher for the Navy and he struck out 13 Leathernecks in the 6 inning game that preceded a game between Newark and Toronto. Oh yeah, some guy named Babe Ruth also acted as an honorary umpire in this game which was played in Newark, NJ. The ticket is in NMT condition and is an excellent compliment to a 1942 Naval team ball featuring Feller that I have owned for perhaps 20 years. It makes for a neat pairing. Original 1954 photos of Willie Mays in a Santurce Cangrejeros uniform don't seem to be very common. The 1954-55 season was the only season Mays played in Puerto Rico. I suppose I'm drawn to them because of the Clemente connection. I picked this on up in the most recent RMY Auction. It is my fourth such Mays photo.

New Cabinet
Went to an Estate Sale this weekend and picked up this oak display cabinet (for $50 had to have it for display). The glass on three sides and glass shelves make it a perfect replacement for a bookcase that I was using that I didn't really like for display. I am excited how this fits nicely into the room and gives me more display room.

I mainly collect memorabilia of players and teams from my hometown but I stepped outside that zone for my most recent acquistion. I picked up this 1952 Sugar Ray Robinson vs Carl "Bobo" Olson wooden fight billboard. This was the great Sugar Ray Robinson's only title fight in the SF-Bay Area, where I live, so that was the main attraction to this piece of local sports history. The billboard measures 2 ft x 4ft.
Hopefully I can find a ticket from this fight one of these days to go along with it. |

Thanks Jim. Sad to say, I've only been to the antique fair once. If you go, bring a good pair of walking shoes from what I remember!
I'm going to try and get out there in next couple of months to check it out.
