IF the price is right i have no problem purchasing a product that is already graded - i just see these prices through the roof just bc they is a piece of plastic that someone said is authentic. i'd much rather prefer an old school hard plastic sleeve

I'm personally not a fan of PSA slabbing tickets.
This is how I prefer to store mine, BTW. I would prefer to spend my money on the ticket, not the slab. To each is own, though. There is no right or wrong way to collect in my humble opinion...

there are tons of ridiculous pie in the sky prices for tickets on ebay that some people ask reality is if its the right price it gets sold quick at fair market value , if not they get to keep it slabbed or not slabbed , Fact is most of the high end desirable mile stone tickets $1000 or more are slabbed with serial numbers to avoid any potential classic bait and switch or claims item is not as described so they can squeeze seller for a discount there is no way I would try and sell a raw ticket valued over a $1000 to some one who then gets to handle it poorly, very easy to do take it out of old plastic sleeve and then possibly drop it , ding it, bend it , crease it or cause other damage and then claim it was like that when they got it , when its slabbed sealed it cant be messed with and if they return it its the same as when shipped finally and most important no body twists any body's arm to hit the buy it now button or to bid, Last edited by megalimey; 02-10-2017 at 02:39 PM. |

Megalimey Quote "thanks for your fair input I know you are not a fan of slabbing especially PSA
but you at least acknowledge there may be a reason to pay a premium for a slabbed ticket if no other example is available: I have nothing specifically against PSA. I dislike all slabbing. I did acknowledge that there might be a reason to pay a premium for a slabbed copy if no other example is available, but it has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the fact that it is slabbed. The premium is because there are no other copies available for sale, which usually drives up the price anyway. I tried to be fair, but please stop. The reason most high end stubs are slabbed is because the auction houses want them that way to relieve them of any responsibility, not because there is some inherent value to having them in a slab. As we have discussed a million times before, there are many many examples of high end ticket stubs that have been sold without slabbing and their prices have done quite well in comparison to slabbed versions. The previous discussion, which included many examples, is here for those who wish to view as I do not wish to rehash this again. http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...1932+ws+ticket That all being said, this was not his question. In essence, he was asking if slabbed tickets were worth paying a premium for. My answer was and is NO, unless your desire for it is so great you cannot wait for another to come along. There is nothing wrong with buying something slabbed, but I, personally, would never pay a premium for it because of that.
