I'm no music connoisseur, I don't really even listen to Rock. But when I think "Rock", the Beatles don't come to mind. I classify them in some radio-friendly "Pop" genre. A lot of people like their music, so I'm not bashing the Beatles, I just don't understand the "Rock" label. I know next to nothing about any Classic Rock, but when I think Classic Rock, I think Hendrix and The Stones and AC/DC and maybe Queen etc.
Am I way off base here? Feel free to rip me a new one while educating me at the same time

Rob- In the early 1960's, before the Beatles became so incredibly famous, they were playing rock exclusively. As the music began to change around 1965, they led the way in inventing and reinventing what popular music sounded like. It became harder to put a label on that new sound. They could play rock if they wanted, but they could do so much more. I'm guessing you didn't grow up during the 60's.
