There are quite a few cards which were printed in strips or on larger paper. I have to think these are printer proofs.

http://www.m.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?p=1594036 The same dealer that purchased the 1975 Twinkies scrap, which contained numerous variations - what we would call printer scrap - also purchased other years including 1976-78. He indicated that due to its initial success, Intercontinental Baking wanted to expand the set in successive years and experimented with the basic 1977 design. I believe the cards JT referenced above are part of this experiment, including scrap with different parts of the base design offset to varying degrees. In the initial conversation I had with him, he seemed to indicate most of what he purchased was scrap. I am surprised there isn't more of it floating around. Z |
