Kevin,

I dealt with Kershelle at the UPS store. Unfortunately, with your situation it would be cheaper for them to ship to you directly and save the $115 not paying sales tax.

I completely understand the high shipping cost when dealing with priceless pieces of art but to charge $147 which doesn't even include insurance to ship a 1911 Chicago Cubs season pass which is the size of a credit card is crazy. It could be shipped in the most protective way possible and sent overnight with insurance for a 1/4 of the price they were charging me.

Its such a racket! When I talked to them they couldn't give me a answer why shipping is so high. hahaha.. Im more inclined to paying the higher amount in NY taxes to go to the state over giving this auction house any more of my money. Now we are getting into a principle matter for me haha

I figured shipping charges & the buyer's premium into my bids.

I was thrilled add this postcard size snapshot of Matty during Spring Training in Texas!

Christies Matty.jpg

I also added to my Bender collection with this photo from one of the Paul Thompson lots. The one on the left is the Christies image, the one on the right the Lelands image of the exact same photo from a decade ago. I noticed this image quality discrepancy on the other photos in my lot and in several other lots. As a buyer I didn't mind so much as it might have suppressed the bids of others, but as a the consignor I would not be so thrilled!

I bought my Thompson lot for the Bender, so if anyone is interested in the Chance, Marquard, Vance or Cicotte from that lot PM with your interest.

Ditto. When I first saw it I thought it was a picture of him in the trenches on the Western front.

Thanks guys, the Matty is from the same Spring Training as the Stopple Home Run Baker and Matty RPPCs which were taken in Galveston. Matty is even wearing the same jacket. http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=241040
