Lack of love for r311, r312, r313?

I have several pastels, including Joe D, and I have the R314 DiMaggio-McCarthy. I like the pastels in particular.
But I believe the reason these don't get great respect is due to the photo-paper stock. While they are designated as cards, they're not cards as in cardboard.
That's the reason that I don't value them as highly.

I agree with this. The quality of the paper, and the fact that there is nothing on the back, makes them seem kind of flimsy. I have several R312s of Billy Sullivan Jr. but I'm not crazy about them

I will say this..one of the best images ever on a "card" is the Waners on Jim Weaver's shoulders. Classic.

Regardless of the character of the stock, I have always liked them for their generally high quality photographic images (thus capturing quite well a two-dimensional slice of a three-dimensional moment in the players' lives and careers). The lighter stock issues are prone to "flex bends" which causes them to be graded rather harshly by the TPG's IMHO.
