 Matty as depicted by Benjamin Falk circa 1904. Used to be mine.   My E107 type card.   Vancouver mayor L. D. Taylor circa 1915. Not mine but thought it worthy of posting. The Washington Senators won their first A.L. pennant and only World Series championship in 1924. On August 28-31, 1924, the Senators went to N.Y. and took 3 out of 4 games from the Yankees to gain sole possession of first place. When the team returned home around midnight, thousands of fans greeted them at Union Station. President Coolidge invited the team to the White House, where this photo was taken on September 2, 1924.

The Big Train was sick so wasn't wearing a uniform this day, so says his grandson (hi Hank). I think Mr. Johnson was quite dapper in his suit. I am not at home so borrowed this from Heritage, where it came from.
