Upgrade
 ...the new one is the somewhat-faded raw one ; it is better than the old faithful PSA 2 which I've had for 8 or so years ; ( it originally had come back from PSA as a "1" but I knew it was better than that so I cracked it out and re-submitted and then it came back as you see it --a glorious "2" ) ; with the new raw one hey we could be talkin' a 3 or a 3.5.......I bought it last month from "COMC" as a BIN as soon as it was listed because they had titled it as a "1936 Fine Pen National Chicle Premium" ; that happens once in a while but hardly ever with the pricey scarce ones.... ..

Thanks to Joe T for finding me this beauty. Represents the 1927 team, and the year Ruth hit 60 for my collection, which had been two holes. Plus any Red Sox Ruth image is also always extra cool. Had been seeing the early Ruth stuff take off in price, and was a good time to grab a nice York, before one hit the auction circuit and joined the others. "Affordable pre-Goudey Ruth" is starting to become an oxymoron!

Upgrade..'37 Type 5 Mechanical Man
 ...these are "Wide Pens"- R314 Goudey Premiums from the 1937 Type 5 issue of mostly Canadian players but also with about a dozen or so Detroit Tigers from South of the border (but barely so) ....the upgrade is quite a bit faded , and the original is somewhat darkened , undoubtedly from questionable storage practices over the last 80 years.....the true standard normal coloration is a dullish tan/amber matte finish , ; picture something about halfway between these two garish examples.... ..Charles Gehringer appears in the types 1 (1936) , 4 , and 5 (both 1937)......Hank Greenberg is the only player to appear in all five versions.....took forever to put together that little mini-master set... ..
