It's always exciting to learn something new. Especially when it relates to a subject you thought you knew a lot about. I picked up this ticket and program. They are from a charity exhibition game billed as the 8th game of the 1971 World Series played at RFK on May 22, 1972. The Pirates were defeated by the Orioles 5-2 on that date. Other than the games location and final score I could not locate any additional I information.

Thanks Matt...
I missed it the first time, so I was happy to get it now. Did not think that it was going to happen, but it fits in with my other negro leaguers, so I am pretty stoked about it! |

Always wanted to add a Yasiel Puig gamer to my collection. I think he is really funny to watch, plus when he connects, he can send one to the moon.
So naturally, I bought one from a seller on ebay who had no COA and some sketchy feedback. That's ok, right? He threw in some game used (and signed) gloves too! Seriously, I sent it off to PSA, and it turned out the seller was legit! |

That may be the highest $ item ever posted by a forum member. Not that that's all that important, but it's good to see posts by guys who actually bid on this highest-end stuff.
G-R-E-A-T item!

Guessing its 1940's or 1950's (not in hand yet) although they had them in the 1930's and 1960's too, but for the 60's the style & wording changed. They actually started in Wrigley in 1928.
Seems to match up pretty well with the ones in the 1938 Homer in the Gloamin' by Gabby Hartnett at Wrigley Field pix and the 1945 World Series with Detroit and the Billy Goat Curse pix. Again, I've seen the "newer" 1960's and 1970's style cap at auction before, but not this older version. Last edited by Shoeless Moe; 03-14-2018 at 01:47 PM. |

I don't know what the Gibson bat sold for, but Corey Shanu.s posted some high $$ stuff back in the day.

Thanks guys.
The Jeter Bat had a minor crack in the handle that was professionally secured before I acquired it (those photos were taken prior). Last edited by MVSNYC; 03-07-2018 at 09:10 PM. |
