Default 1961
I have been collecting Cincinnati Reds game used bats, uniforms, equipment, awards, contracts etc… of players from the 1961 World Series team for some time. Last year I picked up some tough bats (not a function of price, but availability as most would consider them obscure players). I have also acquired some artifacts from Yankee Stadium from that same time period, as well as Yankee uniform items. It occurred to me that I had yet to add a game used bat for a significant 1961 Yankee…at about that same time, I saw this Maris bat was coming to auction. It killed me to move the items I did (good Brooklyn Dodger and New York Giants stuff is still selling strong), but I am very happy with the decision I made. This bat helps to fill out the context of the 1961 World Series, and the larger 1961 season as well.
