William Brown is William Thayer Brown, one of 3 original partners and a brother in law.
His son, also William T Brown, also worked for the company. Google William T Brown, and you will find a nice article on changes to the company in the 1930’s that talks about William Thayer Brown.

I should I add I am one of those odd collectors who care more about what the signature is on more than the signature itself. If this is an extremely important document that would add to the value for me, at least.

I used to own 2 different deeds each signed by spalding and wife. Someone with a knife cut through the signatures leaving them whole put virtually in 2 pieces connected on other parts of the deed. I was able to have Jim Stinson sell them for I believe $1500 each when I upgraded to a signed book. I have paid about $1100 each for the deeds through Heritage maybe 10-15 years ago
