Hi Barry! The Old Judge book on page 94 tells us that it was Abner Dalrymple and even highlights the two body sections that were used (on a trade card I got from you probably 20+ years ago). Come to think of it, you were involved in the AIU also.
BTW, correct me if I am wrong but the image we are discussing is a just a photograph, not a cabinet.

It’s an imperial cabinet actually. Well the team photo is. But I may be confused too, that happens easily to me.

I've only got one 19th century cabinet, so it is an easy call from my PC. But, it has it all: mustaches, a catcher's mask and chest protector, ring bats, gloves, a pug, a ghost on a bench, ties, pillbox hats, a train, dapper managers, and a factory belching smoke in the window reflection.

All are GREAT, but I have to lean to Bryan .... It does have it ALL !!!!

Probably easy to say who the catcher was (with mask, of course

). But, I would also assume

the other fellow in front row, with ball in hand was the pitcher, and the intense looking guy on left was the best hitter. That is the way they indicated these things back then, I think

Just one favorite cabinet? Isn't that like asking which is your favorite child?

I'm kind of fond of these three. I like the 1889 Columbus Solon team cabinet because of the odd presentation. I like the 1888 Deacon White cabinet because of the scarcity of the subject and the odd pose. And I like the 1888 Philadelphia Athletic team cabinet because it contains Gus Weyhing, with whose nephew I was friendly.

It's Dalrymple, thank you. Of course I could have looked it up in your book, but l didn't.

I remember the day well I brokered the Anson in Uniform, and with regard to that Chicago team photo, it had a very irregular and unusual border, kind of like the crust of an apple pie. Am I right about that?

Okay, I see the cabinet also pictured on page 94. And it does have that irregular border.

I love that card, absolutely love it the time it captures in the games history just after the Cincinnati team.

This is my only one, '94 Betz Baltimore with 7 HOfers on there.
