Earl Clark signed 1933 Goudey

My dad told me at one time he had an entire set signed that he bought from 2 brothers who got them as kids back in the 30's and 40's. This was back in the 1970's and he said he had 2 of each Ruth and Gehrig (that's 12 total!). I remember one of each framed up on the wall of our house for many years. Sadly they are all gone but what can you do? I asked him after reading this post and he said yes, the ENTIRE set was autographed along with a Lajoie! So keep looking, you'll find them all eventually (I know there's at least ONE of each out there)!

Thank you for sharing. That is incredible. I�d love some more information about where and when he sold them. There were a few guys like Wattie Holm who never played after the set was released so I was working under the assumption that those guys were probably impossible.

Jason, I wish I could offer more info but that was back in the mid to late 70's. He did say he sold them one at a time and not as a whole set. My dad has a pretty good memory but not good enough (he's 78 this year) for the finer details. There was an article written about the sale of a T206 Wagner that he was involved in and he doesn't even remember that one very well! He insists the entire set was signed (and I do remember him having multiples of Ruth and Gehrig) so I have to take him on his word. Sorry I can't be of more help!

If your Dad is Pat Quinn, from the Chicago area, he is correct (even if he can't remember all the details). I've dealt with him for 40+ years, and remember when he got the signed 1933 Goudey sets. I bought a bunch of the cards from him in the 1970s. Wish I had purchased more!

Tom, yes that's him. I'll mention you to him when I see him in a couple weeks. Thanks for backing up the story. Glad someone here was part of that moment.
