I have heard several times over now that PSA seems to be tougher on the grade. That said, would you rather have a card in a, say, PSA 5 slab, or would you rather have the same card in an SGC 80 (6) slab?

Depends on the card......a T206..the SGC.....anything post-war....probably the PSA.

I'd take the better card. Trust your own judgment over that of someone with no additional qualifications who spends but a minute assigning a grade.

I would use PSA without thinking twice.

I have never sent a card in for grading so take this for what it's worth.
Imo, the tougher, more consistent grading company is SGC. PSA brings bigger dollars when selling, no doubt about it, but their consistency is all over the map. Many times I have seen much better looking cards in SGC slabs that I have in higher graded PSA slabs. With the many shady PSA stories I have read and seen here, I think someday, once people finally start to realize what PSA is all about, SGC will be the go to company.......maybe?
