Ryan, as far as I know, both variations are from the same year, however, some cards in this set have been found with a 1927 copyright date. Cards have also been found with blank backs, and these are believed to have been cut from an advertising sheet. Not being a set collector, I don't know much about this set. Seeking very scarce/rare cards for my Sam Rice master collection, e.g., E210 York Caramel Type 2 (upgrade), 1931 W502, W504 (upgrade), W572 sepia, W573, 1922 Haffner's Bread, 1922 Keating Candy, 1922 Witmor Candy Type 2 (vertical back), 1926 Sports Co. of Am. with ad & blank backs. Also 1917 Merchants Bakery & Weil Baking cards of WaJo. Also E222 A.W.H. Caramel cards of Revelle & Ryan.

As far as I know only Ruth has been found with a 1927 date on it. There are around 3-5 of those known. And one I used to own..

Leon, Jack Dempsey is known to exist with both 1926 and 1927 copyright dates, which leads me to suspect there might be others. See post #18 in this old Net54 thread for pics of both Dempsey cards: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=78580
