I have handled several hundred 1934 Goudey's over past 40 years and I do not like the Cochrane at all. Paper looks wrong from the photo of the back and worse from front photo. Printing for all the reasons listed. Counterfeit cards are a moving target. I have seen many cards where an example is shown of a correct vs incorrect card only to see it corrected in next batch of counterfeits. Many times tough to tell until card is in your hands.
When the first batch of Goudey reprints came out in the early 1970's when most cards in the set could be had for $5 or less the only 2 exceptions Ruth and Gehrig. But from the gate folks bought the reprints dirtied them up and tried passing them off. |
