BTW, on 9/2/72 Milt Pappas came within one pitch of a perfect game.
Pappas always claimed that the home plate umpire robbed him of the PG, by calling an obvious strike a ball allowing the 27th batter he faced to walk: the only blemish in an otherwise perfect game.
