The Brooklyn Dodgers player front and center in your snapshots is Gil Hodges. Can't say who the background player is. Last edited by spec; 07-15-2019 at 12:54 AM. |

Its unusual for me to come across something from the 71 Pirates that I haven't seen before. Thanks to icollectDCsports for contacting me about this item. I appreciate the assist. Although it's not quite as beautiful as Bob's Cobb fan I am thrilled to add this ceramic bank to my collection.

Thank yo all for your nice comments.
One thing I have never understood about pieces like the Cobb Fan for A Fan is why these go for so little compared to the T206’s? The Cobb fan is far far rarer than any of the T206 cards? There are probably less than 10 known copies of the Cobb Fan yet it sells for just a fraction comparatively? I know I am biased to the memorabilia but this makes no sense to me personally. |

Mike - that thing is so ugly, it’s beautiful
![]() Bob - totally agree. That’s why I’m happy to be on the memorabilia side!

I think it can simply be explained by the fact that many more people collect cards than Memorabilia. Can’t imagine any other reason than the sheer number of collectors vying for these things. I keep thinking that Memorabilia will soon surpass cards, in terms of value/desirability... but have thought that way for over 20 years. So I’m pretty sure it ain’t happening in our lifetimes. Good thing for us! |
