Jim Bottomley, Ira Thomas & Pepper Martin

So my question, is the Bottomley a fake? Meaning a frankenphoto? I ask bc his uniform is reversed where the boys is not.

I don't think it's a fake. Perhaps it's just the angle of his stance with his arm elevated around the boy's shoulder that makes the other side of the graphic look higher.

Great thread!

Here's a pic of my Uncle Sam (closest in pic) with his friend, Norm (closest to Mantle) and Dizzy Trout (glasses) at the 1958 World Series.

Twenty years ago my daughter's teacher found out I was a collector of sports "stuff" as she put it and wanted to show me snow snaps that were in her family forever. I tried to buy them from her be she said she could not bear to get rid of them but was kind enough to run me off some photocopies of them for me to keep. The quality of the photocopies are not the best but the original snaps were in awesome condition. I need to find that teacher and see if she wants to sell now.

Default Snapshots

Here are some more snapshots:
1) Walter Johnson - Early 1910's
2) Ed Walsh - 1912
3) Forbes Field Under Construction (Barney Dreyfus?) - 1909
4) Yankee Stadium - Unknown year, any help from the Yankees fans out there would be greatly appreciated! Possibly Gehrig at 1st Base?

Hi Andy, do you — or anybody else here — know who the guy is who's posing with Greenberg in your snapshot? I have a snapshot of him posing with someone else from the same era ...

I currently have the Greenberg snapshot. It belonged in a set of 5 snappers. Photos are from Tigers 1936 Spring Training. All of the photos had that coach(?) posing with the players. I don't know who it is. Maybe a former player? Guest instructor? I would love to know as well.

Default Don Larsen and Vandy

Snapshot of World Series perfect game pitcher Don Larsen and Johnny "Double No-Hit" Vander Meer from Larsen's personal collection.
I believe this was likely taken at the Ted Williams museum in FL circa mid-1990's.
Vandy signed the snapper and gifted it to Larsen.

The two snapshots look like they were taken the same day. I can't find a coach who resembles him, and the shape of his body rules him out as a player. I wonder if he was some sort of dignitary who got to play coach for a day in spring training. He looks a little like WC Fields.

Correct, taken the same day for sure based on the set of photos. If it's a player would def be an old timer player..but don't know who that would be.

Totally agree, most likely a dignitary figure of some kind. If it was a well know person, there could be a mention of him in the newspaper archives. Just a thought.

Scott great snapper!

What a handsome guy Greenberg was! Not a bad ballplayer, either...
