The person who beat it up isn’t necessarily the same person who created a fake. I have a 1974 Fleer Pioneers of Baseball card that somebody deliberately folded and beat up, presumably because that assumed that it was a really old card and that old cards “should” look like that. This could be a reprint that some unsophisticated person best up to make it look more “authentic”.

I don't think it's an authentic reprint. It is a fake reprint. And "Overall" it's still a yucky looking card.
