1970 Topps baseball question

Thanks for clarifying, guess someone needs to find a video of a 3rd series pack break to complete the puzzle.

At a guess could be a blend of the posters and scratch-offs, hence the more generic insert wording. I collected this set heavily as a kid, the latter two inserts were more common than the posters as I recall, at least on Long Island. I suspect the scratch offs and story booklets were transitoned as well between 5th and 6th.

Interesting all three inserts sets are 24 subjects in length, it suggests one massive printing of each vs. how they distributed earlier, longer insert sets like the 1966 Ruboffs or the coins in '64 or '71.

The story books were the most difficult insert for me in Southern California. Part of that is the 7th series cards were hard to find in our area. I definitely had more scratch offs than posters, but I had more 4th series cards than any other series. I feel that the scratch offs may have been in 3rd series, but am not sure. The inserts were definitely unique to series that I bought. There was no mixture.

I vividly remember opening 1970 high number packs Labor Day weekend 1970; they had just hit the stores. I remember because I scored the Bud Harrelson and I was a burgeoning Mets fan and also liked the shot; I know the timeframe because we were at an annual picnic held the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend and I got a couple of packs when we were going home.

No idea what I had for lunch today but I remember that......
