I am still trying to figure out how the OP put Carew for the 60’s when Carew only played 3 seasons in the 60’s????

His question is confusing. Does he want the best players with Rcs in the decade or best player in the decade also with a rookie card in the decade?

Someone brought up Reggie Jackson, I could see why u want to list him as a 70's contender, his rookie was 1969, But does he make the top 5 of 60's players, whose rc was in the 60's? actually, maybe. It doesn't matter when their career ended.

By those criteria, Chipper Jones and Miguel Cabrera should be on your list.

If we want a true top 100 list, take the top 20 rookie cards per decade and count the player's whole career. Many of those guys who are top 5 only counting the years of the decade, wouldn't even make a top 20 list. For basketball, Bill Russell just missed the 50s list because he doesn't have enough time and Jabbar only gets one year, no chance at making it. For baseball, guys like Bob Gibson, Reggie Jackson and Ken Griffey Jr only get one year, so again no chance. For the OP, Carew, Bonds and Peyton Manning, not enough time to make the list. Brown and Walter Payton would be close, probably not top 5, but top 20. Last edited by rats60; 12-05-2019 at 09:36 AM. |
