For pure baseball card enjoyment I would recommend a regular Topps Hobby box. It has it all (at least one auto or relic, subsets, inserts, serial numbered cards, short prints, and a chance to get something rare like printing plates, 1 of 1 cards etc.). Looks like Series 2 is already a little pricey, but you can still find bargains for Series 1.
Then if he likes the experience, you could use 2020 as a chance to build the entire 2020 set by hand (get him a box of Series 1, Series 2, and Update throughout the year) for birthday, Christmas, whenever. They are usually about $60 per box when they first come out. |
