It's alright to have an opinion unless the opinion turns out to be wrong, then it becomes an ethical obligation to acknowledge those opinions were wrong-

Question--Cap Anson didn't have a mustache in his early Iowa baseball playing days. I wonder why?? Last edited by Directly; 02-08-2020 at 06:49 AM. |

Joe was on the team--Attn: Serious Baseball Historians
Yes, its documented Joe was asked to join the Dubuque Rabbits--We just need to know what year.--??-Yes, we are hoping the date matches the date on our Dubuque baseball team photo--this would be a tremendous discovery!

WOW, Joe Jackson played there. Is he the third guy from the center in the row?

Good observation, but wasn't Jack Johnson a Boxer, not a baseball player?

Attn: Baseball Historians & Collectors
FYI--Dubuque Photographer HA Jordan inscribed on the pedestal I circled in red--) S1-- When I showed the photo to a photographer, he points out, Tom its not the letter S but the number 8.
1881 was last year Comiskey played baseball in Dubuque and the same year Joe Quinn was asked to join the Rabbits! Last edited by Directly; 01-27-2024 at 06:17 AM. |

Comiskey was born in 1859. In 1881 he would have been 22 years old. If anybody in that picture is over 18 years old, I'll eat my hat.

Comiskey was shown a photo which he didn't even own a copy, pointing out Reis and Alveretta the acrobat. I believe Comiskey was referring to my photo and not the North Western Composite photo, If it matters Reis and Alveretta are in my photo
I might add the photo being from a St Louis Antique dealer I believe was originally owned by Joe Quinn, I am in the process of locating his decedents to share as I did with the Comiskey family Correct--Comiskey would be 22 and Quinn 19 -- Last edited by Directly; 03-21-2020 at 05:33 PM. |
