I'll stick with the Cal Ripken Jr. milk carton theme & post these half pint cartons from Rutters Convenience Store (1989).....They also offered a half gallon carton as well..They too generously assisted me with flat/un-used examples.

Day 48 (February 17, 2020 – 048)
If I’m not mistaken the item today is a placemat (I think). Seems like one anyway; let’s go with it. This is from 1968 and pictures many drawings of the Oriole players illustrated by artist Jack Havey. There are some popular Baltimore Orioles players from 1954 to 1968 pictured. Baltimore Orioles 1968 Placemat Day 48 a.jpg Since we’re in 1968 how bout a color team photograph. Day 48 Photo 1968 Team Picture.jpg |

Those look like fun items to collect. Do you have the pics handy of the flat/unused cartons?

Here's an interesting item. I know nothing about it and hope that someone out there can provide more information. My best guess is, it's a flyer promoting a baseball themed USO show and involved players touring Vietnam. It looks like players from the Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates were involved. There is a date written on it, 26 Nov 1970.
Any other thoughts or information is appreciated. 1970 USO Shows SaluteTroops Flyer.jpg |

Unsure if you saw this or not, but this site talks about the USO and MLB. In an article called, 1968 All-Star Special: Talking Baseball in Vietnam. The site I viewed it on was slpl.org |

Day 49 (February 18, 2020 – 049)
Ok, I’ve posted a few half way decent items, but you have to admit this picture today is COOL (Go ahead and admit it…). The photo is a large format, around 11”x10”, and pictures Brooks sliding, safely by the way, into third as Max Alvis of the Indians tries to apply the tag. The umpire at third making the call is Bill Haller. Really like the block letter ORIOLES home jersey as well as the “B” helmet, the dirt flying and of course the needed tongue out of the mouth look for added effect. The photo was taken by photographer Paul Hutchins of The Sunpapers. Back in the day they didn’t have the camera technology like today and it’s a rarity, at least for me, to find nice, clear, up close picture of in-action game shots; this picture is an exception. 1963 Photo of Brooks sliding into 3rd base Day 49 a.jpg |

Just got back from watching the Orioles working out at Ed Smith Stadium. I have to say, I'm enjoying winters in Florida much more than the snow in Maine.
50 years ago, the Orioles began their run to the World Series championship in Miami. Here are some programs from that spring so long ago. Lets hope history can repeat itself. The programs are very nice; thanks for sharing. I'm just hoping for good ball playing this year. I also hope the fans stick with them. |
