Default 1947 Bond Bread

Although this project has been in the works for some time, it has all just come together. It is a complete set of the 1947 Bond Bread Cards (Baseball only) displayed atop a Bond Bread crate from April of 1947 (4-47). The cards not displayed on top, can be seen resting in the bottom of the crate as I opted to have piece of 1/4 acrylic cut to serve as the top. Mind you, I am not a "card guy" per say, but when I saw this crate with the date, I just knew I had to go down this path..

I've switched my focus to comic books! looking for AF 15, Hulk 1, FF1, FF 5 and x-men 1 prefer blue CGC 2.5. I cannot afford a 2.5 Superman #! or Dective Comics #27 so would consider less grades for only those two books.

Dave that's a really cool display!

This pickup is my first "refresh ebay, be the first one to see a listing and frantically click the BIN" find in awhile.

Magnificent display and collection Dave, that crate is an amazing vehicle to further tell the story!!!

Can I ask if you were given explanation for the Auth grade on the Jackie?
I picked up mine many years ago and also received the same Auth flip when I had it graded some 10 or so years ago...even though I doubt it's ever received any alterations.

Bought this cards months ago, but just got it shipped from COMC this week.

Not exactly high grade, but I think it presents pretty well.
One of only two Canadians to play in the Federal League, as far as I know.

Glad to have a CJ in my collection.

Regards,

Richard.

I guess this is where I show off newly purchased postcards:

There's a lefty pitching so I had to grab it.

Got my first T206 Red Cobb in the mail today thanks to a fellow member.

It fit 2 of the 3 things I wanted in a Red Cobb. It has a great red color instead of the ugly to me orange ones. His eyes are also looking to his right, not sure why my version of OCD does not like the ones when he is looking to his left. I wanted a Old Mill back but this awesome example will work.

Really enjoyable pickup this week from a great Board member -- and it's a biggie!
Now at 509/520 in PSA 4-5. Closing in on the Monster...

Jason: Nice work. I didn't know you were building a Monster. You should post pics, especially if they all have the eye appeal you're known for.

Hey thanks Sam! It's been a really fun project that has taken off the past year or so.
Set has been built with Centering in mind, as well as for eye appeal.
about 95% is PSA, the rest SGC, and with the only cards below a 4.0 being the O'Hara & Ed Foster (both 3's).

Here's a sampling of a few of the cards, at your request!

Not too often you get to post cards from an unknown issue, thanks to Ryan for making them available. All Cuban players with Major League clubs, obviously made for that market although the backs indicate an English speaking audience, more questions than answers.

Dibut and Acosta I don't believe ever had a card issued picturing them with their Major League clubs other than these (Palmero's only US issue is a Postaco Stamp). They all had Cuban cards issued but these are great (even with the damage)...

Picked up this cool LA train ticket with an advertisement for the PCL's Opening Day in 1940 with Chuck Eisenmann pitching. I've seen a few of these before and have been on the lookout for a while:
