I have no idea as to the origins or maker of this oddball item other than the fact it obviously commemorates the no-hitter White Sox pitcher Joe Horlen's hurled in 1967 against the Tigers. Any information about it is truly appreciated.

Interesting. I've seen vending machine-like devices in amusement parks and tourist destinations where you can stamp letters and numbers of your choosing onto medallions like that.

I hope you are well! These were individually made to say whatever info you wanted by a machine by inserting around a dollar. I vividly remember seeing these at Disneyland in the 1960's- 1980's and actually made a couple of them myself. People would put them on their key chain. Obviously the guy that made this one was a fan of your boy Joe Horlen. Great pickup for you. Congrats! I hope this helps ![]() |

This one - while a toy watch store display attracted my eye since the TV in the background is a baseball game.
![]() I've always liked store displays - especially if full. Not sure what year/decade or if authentic. If real, I would guess a warehouse find due to condition? ![]()

Well, they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But these might put that old adage to the test. Regardless, here's a glimpse of the entire set... |

My eye beholds ugliness. Only a couple are less than hideous.

Ah, c'mon Rob....
That depiction of your Giants is pretty cool, looking just like a Russian Cossack. And look at that handsome profile of the Pirate! ![]() Last edited by perezfan; 08-03-2020 at 10:00 AM. |

I think the "artist" just gave up when he got around to the Yankees and Phillies.

![]() ![]() This is a photo taken June 9, 1911. I found it in a box of photos that my mother had stuffed in a closet. It apparently was part of a photo album of my grandmother's. That kid in the front with the glasses...that is my grandfather, about 13 years old. He was born in a tenement on the Lower East Side and never left Manhattan. So it is a new item for me even though we've had it in the family for 110 years. He died when I was 4 so I have few memories of him but I do recall that he used to do sleight of hand magic tricks with a lit cigar and that he took me with him once on his beat (he was in law enforcement), which was meatpacking district. I recall getting a hot dog fresh off the line at one of them. He was a fantastic grandfather. I wish I'd gotten to spend more years with him. So this photo was quite the find for me.
