Oops, my bad. I did not get that one. I think I was #3 bidder, which always makes me feel better than losing to “that one guy.”
 I earlier lost the same pennant, haggling with the seller over five stupid bucks.I did pick up a different polychrome Polo Grounds a while back.

Giants banner
This large pennantish banner just arrived in the mail. 28 x 34 inches. It smells old, but I can't tell how old exactly. The straps have velcro, which was apparently invented in 1952, but I'm not sure when it went into widespread use.
The baseball was sewn and then applied to the felt banner with some type of glue. Letters glued onto the baseball, which is otherwise sewn. It was not made to be outside, at least for very long. It may be an older fan piece. If it is, it is done very well. I was also thinking that it might have been something used inside a store, given its size. Curious to hear what others think.

Marc, to me this doesn’t look like a homemade item, and for sure it is awesome. Look at the back where the black strips stick out .... looks symmetric to me. All four corners look alike. Not proof but it suggests machine production. Also the baseball looks like a pure circle.
Does the orange material have the feel of a pennant?

Greg- about your question regarding whether the felt is similar to a a pennant: I just went and felt up a bunch of 1950s/1960s pennants. My overall conclusion is that the felt in the banner seems more like the felt used to make pennant tassels/spines, and less like the felt used to make the actual pennants. But then that made me wonder if that material was really any different than the felt used to make pennants. I have to admit that I don't know.
