Posters are a different animals as the value is in the poster itself. Any restoration that impacts the poster should impact its value.
I think given that the value of these items is the signature, i dont think that the restoration you describe will likely hurt the value. I also dont think it will increase value much either. I think the only thing that would hurt it would be restoration that in any way affects the autograph. And i agree with Mike. I think it looks pretty awesome the way it is now.
