Day 315 (November 10, 2020 – 315)
I remember when I was in school, we used to cover all our books (maybe we were required to, who knows). I wanted, or I thought needed, Orioles book covers even though I usually just got the paper grocery bag type covers. Occasionally I was able to talk my mom into an Oriole book cover which were like the one pictured below. Man, she was so good at covering books. 1969 Baltimore Orioles book cover Day 315 a 1969 Book Cover.jpg I wasn’t much of a Nabisco Team Flakes cereal fan (the four-grain energy cereal), but I didn’t know at the time that the cereal boxes had cards (mini-posters) on the back of the box to cut out. The 1969 Team Flakes consisted of 24 cards in three series of eight cards. As you can see, they didn’t pay any MLB royalties, so no insignias are shown on the cards. The photos on the Nabisco cards are the same that were used on the 1968 Sports Illustrated Posters. 1969 Nabisco Team Flakes Day 315 b 1969 Nabisco.jpg |

That book cover is pretty cool ! Never seen it before . Really beats the brown grocery bag hand made book cover used in our house growing up. Scott

That's a very nice looking Nabisco card. I wasn't a big Team Flakes fan either. Frank Robinson is the other Oriole in the set. Frank comes in two variations, narrow yellow border and wide yellow border. I've been looking for years, but think the Brooks Robinson card was only printed with a narrow border. 1969 Nabisco Frank Robinson variations 1969 Nabisco Team Flakes - Copy.JPG |

Bill,
I'm interested in one. It will go well with my Montgomery County Public Schools Book Cover. Montgomery County Public Schools Book Cover.jpg Growing up in Maine, I wasn't really aware of the Junior Orioles program. I finally joined in 1972. Here's my well loved membership card, along with the schedule I received. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to use my free Orioles tickets. SCAN9106.jpg 1972 WJZ TV-13Junior Orioles.jpg |

Alan...love those Charlotte cards....
I believe I posted this painting before but us old time collectors probably remember Renatta Galasso as one of the earliest mail order card dealers. She published a magazine called the "Baseball Hobby Card Report" and back in the Summer of '84 Cal Ripken was the cover subject. The original artwork for this cover was done by Ron Lewis and I was able to purchase the original artwork a few years ago: ![]()

That's a nice piece. I remember Renata Galasso and purchased a few items from her. She also sponsored a couple of card sets in the 1970's and 80's. Here are some Orioles cards from her sets. 1977 Don Larsen, 1984 Brooks Robinson and 1984 Reggie Jackson cards 1977 Renata Galasso.jpg 1984 Renata Galasso Collector Series.jpg 1984 Renata Galasso Reggie Set.jpg |

Day 319 (November 14, 2020 – 319)
I’ve only seen this publication once since I’ve been collecting Brooks so I’m sure there’s not many of these remaining. I enjoy the odd-ball items that are not seen every day. This is a small pamphlet or booklet from a 1966 Knights of Columbus events, Sports Night, where Brooks attended. Brooks is pictured on the cover along with sportscaster Van Miller, football linebacker Vince Costello, and HOF quarterback Jack Kemp. 1966 Knights of Columbus Sports Night Day 319 Publication 1966 Knights of Columbus Van Miller Jack Kemp Vince Costello.jpg |

For some reason, I have many many more cups in my collection than I need. Whenever I'm at a game, I just have to check to see if there's a cup I don't have.
I believe these cups were distributed at 7-Eleven stores in the Baltimore area around 1992. Labeled as Baltimore Legends, I've always wondered about the group of players selected (no offense to Paul Blair) and whether more were planned. Brooks Robinson is part of the set, but no Frank Robinson or Jim Palmer. 1992 7-Eleven Baltimore Legends cups 1992 7-Eleven Baltimore Legends Cups.jpg |

Mark...Love the KOC program...I've never seen one before!
In 2011 the event program for the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation Gala had a painting of the Ripken Family by famed baseball artist Dick Perez (of Perez-Steele , HOF, etc.) on the cover. The painting was not part of any auction that evening and shortly thereafter I e-mailed Mr. Perez for details on it and he responded that the original painting was donated to the Foundation to raise money (there were no prints, giclees, etc.). The 2012 Gala comes around and lo and behold I now see the original painting among their silent auction pieces....I was a volunteer at the event and asked if I could participate in the auction and was told I could... Fortunately I was the high bidder that evening and am very proud to own a Dick Perez original (of the Ripken Family no less): ![]()
