Default The puck has dropped!

OK, everyone. Hockey now has its own section on Net54. Let’s use this section for threads with discussions about the greatest game on ice...and its cards/memorabilia.

For anyone new to Net54, or new to starting threads, let me know if I can help in any way.

I am glad for this. I can post my wants here now.It did not take long to get a hockey section once it was ask for.
That is great and maybe a lot of the old vintage hockey site collectors will now make their way here and this will
expand into a great place to talk and collect hockey. Thanks to everyone for making this happen.

Sounds great. I recommend starting a new thread, labeled “hockey want list” or something similar. Eventually, the entire front page of this section will be filled with nothing but hockey content.

Yes it will take a bit of time to not see the other sport content in this tread. But it is great to get started.

Default New Hockey Forum!

This is exciting. I just joined this board a few days ago and now Hockey has our own section, and a number of guys from the old forum are here too!

Let's talk some Isles-Oilers 1981 quarter finals. And while we are at it, let's discuss 1984 Isles-Habs. Canadiens finish season with not even 80 points and have home ice? Isles drop first two at the Forum? I'm calling BS on the NHL and John Zeigler and the Canadian crew. Then, the finals that year are 2-3-2? Give me a BREAK. NHL wanted no part of Isles winning 5 straight.

Anyway, dad always says, if you are looking for the 5th Cup, it's in 78 or 79. By 84, the team was gassed and the Oilers were ready.

See y'all at Belmont!

Loved those Islander teams. we will NEVER see the likes of that Habs/Isles/Oilers run again...possibly not in any sport. Parity? who needs it.

My man John Tonelli! Last time I spoke with him, he was sort of rushed. I said something like: "You are 7 points away from 1000 career points!" and stopped and said he really should have held on for those 7 points.

We can talk of the "Hall of the Very Good", but if you go through the list of Hall of Famers and you are given a choice between: Butch Goring or Guy Carbonneau, I seriously doubt anyone is going to say, "Guy Carbonneau, of course!"

As for Tonelli, he is up there as guys that really should be reconsidered. And traded away for Rich Kromm and Steve Konroyd. Oy veh...

Islander dynasty guy here also having grown up on LI. Still have blue and orange in my blood but being in MD for over 25 years have gravitated to the Caps. Makes for fun rivalries. Interesting fact there is one spelling error on the cup and that’s the 80-81 Islanders spelled Ilanders.

How will this forum work? Will there be sub-threads where some can post: "Hey, look at these Montreal Maroons cards I have" and another discussing "Miracle on Manchester Memories" and yet another discussing "NHL 2020-21 Predictions"?

You've got the idea.

If anyone has a hockey related topic that isn't currently being discussed here, start a new thread on that topic. Just post the new thread here in this forum - https://www.net54baseball.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11

I, for one, would love to see a thread on Montreal Maroons cards.

Here's how to post a picture with a computer running Windows:
  1. Start a post (either your own or by quoting someone else’s post)
  2. Scroll down to (and then click on) “Manage Attachments”
  3. Click on “Choose File”
  4. Find and select your picture (you’re searching in your own computer files at this point) and click “Open” or “Insert”
  5. Now you’re back in the Net54 software. Click “Upload”
  6. Click “Close this window”
  7. Click “Submit Reply”

Please note - the software only allows files up to a certain size. If your image is too high-res, try resizing it to somewhere around 1.5 MB.

Thanks for the answer, i was trying this bit it still didn't work, maybe my images were still too big...if i shrink them enough to fit the tiny size they become almost like thumbnails. I will keep plugging away!

Some great cards in this thread already!

Squints, I have been chasing an OPC Dionne RC for a while now. I had one but it arrived not as described so I had to send it back.
The seller definitely talked this card up and purposely left some things out, imo. (This was off FB, not from a member here)
