He lived a few miles down the road from me at one time and was a super nice guy! I met him the first time at a Rangers game in the 1980s, he was walking through the around the third base side all by himself, like he was making sure the place was cleaned and ready for business I guess. A lady said "hey there's Charley Pride" and we approached him and he signed autographs and said "welcome to the ballpark, let me know if you need anything".
