I've never had any luck removing old tape completely. It's possible to get the cellophane off, but the glue residue will remain and stay sticky. I have a 59 Common that was entirely taped over. Homemade lamination....
![]() It now stays in a penny sleeve despite being pretty beat. Otherwise it would stick to other cards. |

Even with things more minor than that, every time I've ever tried to "fix" an unnatural problem like that on a vintage card, I've wound up making the situation worse. I would leave as-is and appreciate the card for something that was well-loved.
