Fred was a superstar in western juniors before he got a shot in the NHL, and had a good long career in minor pro
after his brief NHL stint. More notably, though, he became chief of his Ahathkakoop Cree tribe, and will be best remembered for the the youth hockey programmes and other youth sports programmes he instituted for his tribe and for disenfranchised Indigenous kids in Canada.
