WOW Gary!!! Besides bats my other hobby interest is early sports art. I remember seeing this in Hunt's auction. It is also the only other one I have ever seen. Unbelievable that you would find something like that in an antique store. Like I told Carlton Hendricks a few years ago and he often likes to repeat "the only thing we find around here in antique stores are velvet Elvis's and tube socks". Great find.

Very, super nice find. You could hang that anywhere, in just about anyone's collection, in any room, and it would be a remarkable piece.

I'm not sure whether this will mean much to others, but for me this is a really, really big deal.

Throughout WWII, there were baseball games played in the bases such as Norfolk, VA, and in the Pacific as a way to entertain the troops. In Europe, this was not really possible until after the war ended.

Once the war ended, a tournament was held. The World Series was held in Nuremberg, Germany, with Hilter's complex visible in the background.

The series was notable for another reason in that one of the teams was integrated and featured future HOF's Leon Day and Willard Brown.

This is a program from that series.

I don't know how many copies exist, but since I started collecting WWII baseball items, I have only seen one other.

It's the kind of program that is far outside of what most people collect. But for me, it's a centerpiece of my collection.

Jeff- Great find. Interestingly, I'm just finishing the book "The Victory Season" which, as you may know, is about the 1946 baseball season. The book describes the game you mention in your post.

Am real excited to have this one. A local team from Charles City Iowa giving their first baseman a GLOWING EMPLOYER REFERENCE after their team has to dissolve 1880. Signed by club manager and President.

Thank you! Yup, that's a great book! I hadn't remembered them discussing this series though, so going to pull it off the shelf and take another look.

I found a neat complimentary piece for my Harvey Haddix mini-collection.
Here is a Harvey Haddix early 1960's locker plate that came out of the collection of the former trainer for the Milwaukee Braves. The fact that the locker plate has Old Milwaukee as the sponsor was too good to pass up because of Haddix's link to Milwaukee's County Stadium.

On May 26th, 1959 @ Milwaukee Pirates pitcher Harvey Haddix pitched what was arguably one of the greatest games of all-time. He hurled over 12 innings of perfect ball before giving up his 1st hit and ultimately losing the game in the 13th inning.
