That is true but I think it's also true of a guy like Pete Browning or Dummy Hoy and they're both hobby staples.

Like Hamilton Tigers and Montreal Maroons vintage?
I saw a pretty one DavidBVintage had up. I really like raw cards, but was considering the plunge because it was of a player from a defunct team.

The Best Wille Mays Regular Issue Topps or Bowman Card a Grand Can Get You...Maybe a very Nice 58 Topps Mays..... I always loved that card....you don't see many nice ones.

Buy a Bo Jackson 1986 Topps Tiffany card, PSA 9. It's a beloved iconic card with tremendous sentimental appeal among a certain generation collector. One of those "I fell in love with cards because of that card" cards. I think Bo's story and legend will only grow over time. Yes, his career was short and his stats limited, but when people talk about some of the stuff he did in that short time period it's almost Mantle-esque.

For me...taking in mind that $1000 wouldn't buy anything for my core collection...I'd buy a kayakload of raw yankees and hof'ers that I really like...and I'd put them in my binders.
