I managed to pick this 1928 PM6 of Grover Alexander yesterday.
I've found some details on prewar cards I've not been able to find any other sales of the pins. If anyone has any other background or info about values, please let me know. Thanks.

Terrific acquisition! PM6s used to be around some, usually undervalued as so little was known about the issue. Many have major rust problems for some reason, some almost like they were sitting in water or some other liquid for a while. Scarce now, I think the initial find(s) has been pretty much collected up. Not sure there were any commons in the set (of 10, maybe?), all major stars of the 1920s. I don't have Muchinsky's book, I'd like to see what he says about them.

Thanks Hank. PM6 isn't covered in Paul Muchinsky's book. I also have a copy of "Non-Paper Sports Collectibles" by Hake/Steckler. It's not there either.
When I saw the pin listed, I struggled to find any details about it. That's partly what got me interested. A Google image search brought me to the pre-war cards page. There are 8 pins in the set. As you mentioned....no commons.
I could only find one other PM6 listing for sale https://ebay.us/iV3Hqy There are no sold listings and only 12 PM6 pins ever graded at PSA. If anyone has any other info, I'm keen to learn more.

I don't think the back on my Grover Alexander is too bad.

It's not, in fact it looks like it might even clean up some, though I would never attempt that. I've seen many that were much worse. I'd love to know what the story is on the horrific condition of so many of the PM6 backs, also if there was ever a paper label on them, though I'd guess not since I've never seen one. Thanks for sharing this one with us.

It's been a minute since I posted my no-hitter pinback framing project and I thought I would send an updated look.
I've added a few pricier pinbacks including Frank "Noodles" Hahn (1st no-hitter in the 20th century). I also made a decision to have fantasy pinbacks of a few of my favorite pitchers in order to fill the gaps where no issued pinbacks were ever produced. Obviously, I needed to add Vandy and Virgil Trucks, both of which pitched 2 no-hitters in the same year, 1938 and 1952 respectively. ![]() I also liked the Koufax blue fantasy pinback because it was well done... Enjoy! Last edited by Scott Garner; 11-05-2021 at 05:20 PM. |

Need to find it and if I do I will post the picture here I believe it is a 1965 Go Mets Go Pin
