Hard to believe it's been 9 years...
since you started this project.
can't tell you how much joy & excitement i have shared with you vicariously from our first conversation and thruout to this apparent conclusion. you have accomplished so very much in a relatively short period of time. congratulations once again on a spectacular acquisition and the completion of this journey. that gallery is most impressive! well done, sir.

Amazing accomplishment. What I love most is the dedication and the true spirit of collecting it took to put together this run. It's not like you just wrote a couple checks and put this together in a couple of weeks. In addition to money, it took dedication and a love of what you were doing. Those are two things missing from this hobby, in my opinion. Well done!

I keep looking at the pics and am blown away that you completed the entire run.
This is the best of the best - there is no better back run, period (considering the player and the total number of combos). |

Another non-T206 guy who took great interest in the collection, quite the accomplishment!
Out of curiosity, I note your collage starts with T206 at left in an order that seems to follow value and then finishes with the non-T206s. Was there a reason for the order? I note the Ty Cobb back is mixed in with the T206s. Curious on your view on the backs and why you arranged them the way you did. As others have hinted at, what do you believe are the chances that a 31st and 32nd variant surface? Not many years ago it was believed 25 would be complete. Lastly, picking up on your future interests, how should the Tigers or Detroit Historical Museum or BB HOF display such a collection? 5 rows of 6 or 3 rows of 10? A deep and secure shadow box that slowly spins the cards in unison at the hit of a button? Would it be interactive with a touch screen that allows some high level details to be shared for each back type? Congrats!

Jamie: Now it's on to the "Cobb Green Portrait ", I think there are only 8 of them. The total backs with all 4 Cobb's in the T206 set I think is around 57 (25,8,8 16). Is this right ?

Hey Everyone
Just seeing all the replies. Thank you everyone for the kind words. I am thrilled to see the run is being enjoyed by others. Answering a few comments made by others. The run already includes the Cobb back.... it’s shown on the right hand side of the photo. There are no red cobb cards in the T215 set. That set only has the Cobb bat off pose. I set up the T206s on the left hand side of the picture because the T206 set was the earlier set. The t213 type 1, 2 and 3 came out in 1910-1919.... and T214 was 1915. My ideal way to show the cards would be one long row where you have to walk several steps to enjoy the entire set. With a slow rotating stand so the fronts and backs can be enjoyed. Or a clear box like display so you can walk on both sides and view fronts and backs. Thanks again for the comments. It has been a fun journey. And very surreal that I was able to complete it.

Is the Cobb red background not known to have a Red Cross back, or not possible with a Red Cross back? I thought that the T215 checklists are incomplete, i.e. less than 100 to the set known, as stated on the back, like T214 Victory checklists are less than the 90 stated on the back.

Hey Everyone,
I enjoy sharing the Cobb Run with the Board and wanted to take a minute to thank a few Board members for helping me with some upgrades over the last several months.. I have been able to upgrade 4 Cobbs since the last post:
3 of these 4 came from other Net54 board members. This website is a great place for collectors to meet and help each other accomplish their goals...I am forever grateful to the board for that.. Thank you to those 3 members who recently helped me.. you know who you are.. Maybe one day ESPN can do a 30 for 30 on this 30 updated image of the Cobb run below:

How does this Cobb run compare to Brady Hill's run? I think Hill's run has all the T206s but not sure whether he has others.

He is missing the T214 victory (only 2 known) and the t213-3 overprint (mine is the only 1 known to exist). He does have all the T206s.

Reading from a couple years ago on this thread where someone mentioned if posters were ever made or quality prints for framing they would buy one...put me in that as well. The red of the cards off the black background...and just the fact it's basically porn for us collectors, would just POP. Post a link if that's ever for sale!!!

That's Cobb in 1912 at Bennett Park, not sure who the catcher is.
