I looked up Pete Tedeschi and Carl Shapley. Both failed at professional baseball, but went home to Calistoga, California and Wichita, Kansas, respectively, where they were both quite successful and highly thought of. And as their cards state, both saw their share in WW2. Beautiful cards with interesting history, Leon.
