we would occasionally run into Yogi and Carmen. They were the most pleasant people that you would ever want to meet. Of course, we would

Minnie Minoso

Orestes "Minnie" Minoso. "The Cuban Comet". "Mr. White Sox". Left fielder for the Chicago White Sox in 1951-1957, 1960-1961, 1964, 1976, and 1980. In 1958, first black player to play for the Chicago White Sox. Career .298 batting average. 1,963 hits and 186 home runs in 17 MLB seasons. 9-time All-Star. 3-time Gold Glove. 3-time AL stolen base leader. Chicago White Sox #9 Retired. Also starred for the New York Cubans in the Negro Leagues. First black Cuban in MLB.

Excerpt from Minoso's SABR biography: An episode during the 1954 season in a game against the Yankees illustrates what a novelty Latino players still were in major-league baseball during the mid-1950s. Casey Stengel, always looking for an edge, ordered utility infielder Willie Miranda to curse at Miñoso, hoping to distract him in the batter’s box. Miranda assumed a menacing pose, and in a harsh-sounding tone invited him out to dinner after the game. Miñoso played along, shaking his fist at Miranda and replying in an equally menacing tone that he would be delighted. He stepped back into the box and smacked a game-winning triple.

We are on Crowe Lake in Marmora Ontario and currently in year 16 at this park.
We face the west so we get some pretty nice sunsets quite often, but the downside, occasionally, is when it is windy out as we can get the full brunt of it at times. But, despite that, we still wouldn't trade it for any other spot in the park as once you are on the east side, with no breeze, the heat, and bugs, can be unbearable at times.

Things are definitely different now that my son doesn't come near as often as he once did but with all the friends we have made over the years, we are still finding it enjoyable for the most part.
What we find we miss the most is taking our son, or taking him and his buddies, tubing, knee boarding and water skiing.
We lived for that, so to speak, as it made for great family fun all being together having fun and staying cool.

I noticed in the thread about overrated and underrated sets, a number of people have listed the 1952 Topps set as overrated. I guess you can't make everyone happy which is why they change the card design every year.
