There are 18 catchers in the Hall of Fame.
By BB-R WAR, Tenace ranks 14th all time. Of the 13 names ahead of him, 11 are Hall of Famers. One more, Joe Mauer, likely will be (the other is Wally Schang, who is at #13 on the list). Two current players who are both considered likely Hall of Famers, Buster Posey and Yadier Molina, are 17th and 19th on the list. The .241 BA isn't pretty, but a .388 OBP for a catcher is darn impressive. He's borderline for sure, but a lot better candidate than may give him credit for. By comparison, Blue's WAR puts him 146th among starting pitchers.
