I would guess that it's not intentional. It's probably just something done through a third-party advertising company, and you see them because you collect baseball cards.
eBay may not even be aware of it until you point it out to them.

I wouldn’t mind so much; however, my wife asked me to purchase something for a gift. I otherwise never would have bought a “Magic Mixies” toy. I’m seeing ads for all sorts of crap now. I guess the only way to shift the advertising back (to 1% revolution and other slightly more tolerable spots) is to buy more cards. ![]() One way or another, advertising works.

If I was a consignor with PWCC right now, I would be pretty pissed.

They're probably using an advertising firm. This stuff happens all the time. Companies learn about who they are advertising with through social media. Someone calls out PETA on Twitter because a Bass Pro Shop ad shows up on their website and the Twitter snowflakes all start crying and trying to organize a boycott. PETA executives go crazy trying to figure out how this happened lol.
I won A LOT more cards than I had anticipated buying in last month's PWCC auction simply because my lowball bids held up. Interestingly, the cards were shipped to me from some random address in Los Angeles though. Not from PWCC in Oregon. |
