16 was when I bought my first T206s.....Bresnahan, M. Brown & Keeler for $10 total back in 1979. I went on to get pretty much all the T206 HOFers, as well as several other pre-wwII HOFers, between the ages of 16-21.

Sixteen was right around when I got out of cards. Wasn’t sure what the girls would think. I got back in around 19-20, but didn’t have serious money to put towards the hobby until I was around 22.

I think they are on Twitter. There is a big hobby presence there. I also agree that it is hard to buy vintage. If you don't know baseball history, and only know Ruth, Dimaggio, Mantle.... those cards might appear to be out of reach. Personally, I wanted to collect players who were playing. Griffey, Larkin, Jeter. It's exciting to follow a player in their career. Once they retired I didn't want to collect post-career cards. So then I moved to vintage because I had more money to spend.

I'm guessing the majority of us took a break around that 16 - 21 age.

We got hooked as 10 year olds, got distracted by more exciting things in high school/college, and then eventually found our way back due to the nostalgia of our 10 year old selves. I definitely took that path.

Yep. Describes me to a T. I found some of the first online auctions (pre-eBay, think dial-up AOL...) in college in the late 90's. I saw the vintage cards I had cherished as a kid in the late 80's and was immediately smitten again.

I started collecting when I was 7 (1975 Topps set) and continued until going to college. I started up again in my late 20s when I had a job with some disposable income to spend on cards, and it's gone on from there for 25+ years now.
