You're missing a hell of a game if you don't dabble in modern. The modern sets (some) offer beautiful artwork and designs and great pictures of great players.
I am by no means a fan of modern cards but I'd not consider my collection to be complete without a nice Ichiro or Kershaw card, or other HOFers from the era. i try to get them signed: ![]() ![]() ![]() I too will pick up RCs of guys I think have chance at the HOF. I picked up a couple of Buster Posey RCs last year because his numbers are better than several HOF catchers and they sell for very little. ![]() I'll even pick up some of the modern art cards if I like the way they look: ![]()

When I returned to collecting after a 20-year hiatus in 2012 I began collecting Topps Heritage, Allen & Ginter, 2007-2009 Goudey, UD 2003 Play Ball, and some other miscellaneous Topps sets. In late 2009 I rediscovered vintage cards and now virtually all of my post-2000 cards are gone. I still have a few Heritage cards and the UD Play Ball sets for sale. I am keeping the Heritage card sets given out at the National Convention and the Heritage 3 card panels, however, because I like them.

Yes for me, but for post-80s I just collect cards of players I like, not type cards, sets, etc. I don't tend to spend very much on modern either.

I started out in modern because it was the players I was watching. As my interests changed, I ended up getting rid of most of the modern stuff. I have a small minor league set from 2007 that I'm working on getting signed, and a handful of other TTM autographs that I obtained around 2006-2010, but on the whole very little post-2000. If I expand it to include the junk wax era, then there are a few more TTM autographs, but still a very small percentage of my collection overall.

Collect them, I'd deny that if accused. I occasionally buy a signed card of a player I like, or a group of cards of the Cardinals or of a team that's having a great year... I don't get them striving toward completion or monetary gain, I'll get a new card if I like it. Usually paying more than it's worth as I get it on eBay.

I am a little surprised, I didn't think as many members would collect the new cards. It is a little over half at the moment.
I think this is just about the newest card I have and it's a postcard. ![]() .

Only because I collect RC's of no-no pitchers. But I'm about done with it....

I am shocked it is not much higher than around 50/50 for Yes. I would think most collectors would either still collect topps factory sets, update sets, their team, a favorite player or local minor league team sets.

Off the top of my head, very few. But, I certainly respect others who feel differently.
