I generally prefer plain modern over shiny but the Diamond Trout Update is a classic of the genre.

Funny, for many years I drew the line not much later than that, 1975, because I really liked the Brett rookie. Then it just kept slipping backwards or I guess I should say forwards. No regrets although I suppose if I hadn't spent so much on modern I could have had more and better vintage.

There are some great 70s cards or at the very least some great rookie cards from the 70s. If I had done the 70s I would then justify doing the 80s and beyond. It was the beyond part that scared me. Having to pick between 10 or 100 rookie cards is just too much work for me.
